Financial Controller - Growing Technology Business
UK Staffing Group
Location:
Greater Manchester - Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home) Salary:
£70,000 + 10% Annual Bonus Contract:
Permanent, Full-Time
This is more than a traditional Financial Controller role.
We're working with a growing technology business backed by an established, entrepreneur-led family investment group. The investors have a track record of building, scaling and developing businesses, and they're looking for a Financial Controller who can bring the same ambition and attention to detail to the finance function. This is an opportunity to join a business with significant growth plans, working directly with the CEO and maintaining close relationships with the wider investment group. You'll take ownership of the financial operation, ensuring the numbers are accurate, the reporting is reliable and the business has the financial information it needs to make confident decisions. But there's another side to this role. As the company grows, you'll be involved in developing financial processes, strengthening controls, improving forecasting and supporting the commercial decisions that will shape its future.
What you'll be doing
Taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function and managing a small finance team.
Delivering accurate monthly management accounts, financial reporting and board packs.
Managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working capital.
Overseeing statutory accounts, audit requirements, tax compliance and financial controls.
Working closely with the CEO and investment group to provide meaningful financial insight.
Improving systems, processes and reporting as the business scales.
Supporting commercial planning, financial modelling and strategic business decisions.
Helping prepare the business for future investment opportunities and potential corporate transactions.
What we're looking for
We're looking for somebody who is technically strong, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility. You'll ideally bring: A fully qualified accountancy qualification - ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
Strong Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance experience.
Excellent management accounting, financial reporting and forecasting skills.
Experience working in a growing, changing or investor-backed business.
Confidence working with senior leadership and presenting financial information.
A hands-on approach to managing finance operations and developing a team.
The ability to improve processes, introduce efficiencies and challenge existing ways of working.
Experience within technology, software, SaaS or another recurring-revenue business would be particularly interesting, although we're equally keen to hear from candidates with strong commercial and financial control backgrounds.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is a chance to join a business with ambitious plans and the backing of investors who understand what it takes to grow successful companies. You'll have direct access to senior decision-makers, the autonomy to improve the finance function and the opportunity to play a meaningful part in the company's development. We're not looking for someone who simply produces the numbers. We're looking for someone who understands what the numbers mean, can communicate them clearly and wants to help build something successful.
