Job Description

The Finance Manager/Controller oversees and manages all RCC financial and internal control and reporting frameworks. You are responsible for leading the finance department and managing the day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger entry and reconciliation, financial statements; budget; payroll, accounts payable; accounts receivable; internal and external reporting; bank accounts and cash flow; group benefits and pension plans; establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems; and ensure the legal and regulatory compliance for all RCC accounting and financial reporting functions. In addition, this position oversees the IT needs of our organization in partnership with our IT staff and Powerland Computers.

In partnership with the Executive Director, the Finance Manager/Controller keeps the Board of Directors and the Audit and Finance Committee up to date on all necessary financial reports.

Privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance, as the Community Health Services Association (Regina) Limited deals with personal health information as well as personal financial data.

Skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in finance, accounting, or internal audit.
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting and/or Finance) and/or CPA designation plus 3 years post CPA certification or commensurate training and experience in the financial field.
  • Experience with computerized software accounting programs (preferably Sage 300 and Payworks)
  • Knowledge and experience in tax filings and preparing and delivering monthly financial reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel, and other business-related computer software is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with computer skills, accounting, and payroll software required.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and people skills
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate complex situations combined with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations knowledge is an asset.
  • Proactive identification of issues and opportunities as part of the management team at RCC.
