In this senior role, you will develop low-level embedded software for a Gloucestershire-based startup, shaping the hardware-enabled products. You will work closely with hardware engineers to deliver robust firmware across bare-metal and RTOS environments, including embedded Linux on ARM-based MCUs. You’ll tackle diverse integration challenges, from serial communications to wireless interfaces, in a fast-paced, autonomous setting. This is a hands-on role with a meaningful impact on product success and company growth.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain low-level embedded firmware for ARM-based MCUs
- Work across bare-metal and RTOS environments
- Implement and integrate communications protocols (UART, I2C, SPI)
- Develop BLE/WiFi/GPRS interfacing and wireless features
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure holistic solutions
- Diagnose, debug and optimize performance and power usage
- Contribute to software architecture and code reviews
- Provide problem-solving leadership with minimal guidance
- 8+ years of embedded software experience
- Embedded C/C++ proficiency
- ARM-based microcontrollers expertise
- Bare-metal and RTOS development experience
- Embedded Linux experience
- Experience with UART/I2C/SPI
- BLE/WiFi/GPRS interfacing experience
- Relevant degree
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
