As Flight Software Architect at ALTEN, you will own and shape the software architecture for complex space systems, translating mission requirements into robust flight software. You’ll coordinate with software, hardware, avionics, GNC, and systems teams to set design principles and ensure traceable requirements. You’ll lead architectural trade studies, drive verification and qualification activities, and mitigate software risks. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on architecture work in a cross-functional, space-focused environment with a mission to enable secure and reliable space missions.

- Define and own the flight software architecture for complex space systems
- Translate mission and system requirements into software architecture solutions
- Set software design principles, standards, and development strategies
- Manage interfaces between software, hardware, avionics, GNC, and systems engineering teams
- Support software requirement definition, decomposition, and traceability
- Lead architectural trade studies and technical decision-making
- Support software verification, validation, integration, and qualification activities
- Contribute to technical reviews and programme milestones
- Identify and mitigate software-related technical risks
- Proven experience in the Space industry (essential)
- Significant experience in embedded/flight/onboard software for space systems
- Experience defining and maintaining architectures for safety/m mission-critical systems
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and architecture frameworks
- Experience with real-time and embedded systems
- Knowledge of software verification, validation, and testing methodologies
- Experience managing complex software interfaces across multidisciplinary teams
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent military experience)
