Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Databricks, you embed with strategic customers to design and deliver custom fullstack solutions on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and other stacks. You own architecture and key design decisions, delivering end-to-end systems that blend data engineering, AI, and application development. You work closely with customer teams and cross-functional partners to create scalable, secure solutions with measurable impact. This role combines hands-on engineering with business outcomes and requires travel up to 50%. You help drive reusable assets and influence product directions, making a tangible difference for enterprise customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead architecture and design decisions ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices
  • Design and develop backend, frontend, and integration workstreams to deliver data and AI-enabled applications
  • Deliver production-grade systems from data ingestion/transformation through ML/AI model integration to user-facing apps
  • Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and drive impact across technical ICs to executives
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Field Engineering to ensure smooth customer journeys from pre-sales to post-deployment
  • Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts and influence the product roadmap
Key requirements
  • Strong software engineering background across backend, frontend, and systems integration
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Java/Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying production applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and UI
  • Familiarity with AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini; experience using AI code generation tools
  • Proven track record delivering technical solutions in enterprise environments with measurable outcomes
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across engineers to C-level stakeholders
  • Learning mindset, curiosity, and adaptability; willingness to travel up to 50%
