Overview

As a Software Engineer with Applied AI, you will design, build, and deploy LLM-powered agents that operate across tools, APIs, and sensitive data to deliver real enterprise value. You’ll bridge North, Cohere’s AI workspace platform, with customer engineering teams to solve real-world problems in finance, healthcare, and telecoms. You’ll own end-to-end use cases, ensure reliability and safety from day one, and contribute to scalable, auditable AI workflows. This role combines hands-on coding with customer collaboration in a fast-paced, enterprise-grade environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deliver LLM-powered agents with enterprise-grade reliability and performance across tools and data sources
  • Translate high-value business problems into well-framed agentic workflows with clear success criteria
  • Develop features for North across the full product lifecycle from concept to production
  • Own end-to-end use cases, expanding into required technical areas (including frontend) to optimize solutions
  • Contribute to shared frameworks and patterns for consistent, high-quality delivery
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous situations and raise engineering quality across the organization
  • Travel up to 20–40% to work on-site with customers and partners
Key requirements
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade software in Python
  • Experience deploying high-performance RAG and agentic applications with multi-step task execution (e.g., ReAct/Plan-and-Execute)
  • Deep familiarity with the LLM stack (frontier models, vector databases, orchestration frameworks)
  • Proven ability to build robust evaluation frameworks for agent accuracy, safety, and latency
  • Experience working directly with customers and leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders
  • Ability to own the full scope of a use case end-to-end
  • Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities
