Full Stack Engineer

As a Full Stack Engineer at Barclays, you will design, build, and scale digital platforms delivering seamless experiences for customers and colleagues. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement scalable solutions, and ensure secure, well-tested code. You will contribute to the culture of technical excellence, stay current with industry trends, and help drive transformation through innovative technology. • Develop and deliver high-quality software using industry-aligned languages, frameworks, and tools
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and align with business objectives
• Participate in code reviews and promote code quality and knowledge sharing
• Stay informed on technology trends and contribute to technology communities
• Adhere to secure coding practices and protect sensitive data
• Implement effective unit testing to ensure reliability
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives and coordinate work with teams when applicable

• Strong Java experience, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security
• Proven experience designing and developing APIs
• Solid database experience, including schema design and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitLab
• Desirable: monitoring and control of applications and services
• Desirable: exposure to APaaS environments
• Strong understanding of architecture and design principles for scalable systems
• Northampton-based or willing to relocate
