Contract: 6 months, with potential to extend
Location: Hybrid, Leeds

  • A true full stack role: equal weight on React and Python, so you will never be boxed into one side of the stack

  • Ownership: take services from design through to deployment, monitoring and live support
  • A strong team: work alongside experienced consultancy and client engineers

THE ROLE

  • APIs consumed by React front ends
  • Serverless Python on AWS Lambda
  • Automated testing with PyTest
  • Clean, maintainable, secure code

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, develop and maintain React Micro Frontend applications using Module Federation
  • Design, develop and maintain Python backend services
  • Build and operate cloud-native solutions on AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, WAF, DynamoDB, S3 and CloudWatch
  • Deploy infrastructure and applications using Terraform
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test and deployment
  • Implement automated unit and integration testing, and contribute to code quality and security
  • Work with product, architecture and delivery teams to turn requirements into effective solutions
  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot incidents and drive continuous improvement

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Essential:

  • Strong hands-on experience with React
  • Hands-on experience developing Micro Frontend applications, with practical experience of Module Federation
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python
  • Practical experience of AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, WAF, DynamoDB and S3
  • Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
  • CI/CD pipelines using Git and GitHub
  • Automated testing and modern software engineering practices

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Micro Frontend and Single Page Application design patterns, best practices and performance optimisation
  • Experience of public sector delivery and the GDS service standard
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills
