Overview

As a Senior Kotlin Developer in Version 1's UK Digital & Cloud Practice, you will help design, build, and maintain cloud-based software with a focus on secure, scalable solutions. You lead technical work within an agile team, owning product design and delivery while ensuring high quality and smooth handovers. You’ll collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to translate requirements into robust architectures and knowledge transfer. This role offers exposure to large-scale transformation projects for public and private sectors and a path to senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-based software applications
  • Provide technical leadership to coordinate delivery of scalable, secure solutions
  • Operate within an agile delivery framework
  • Own product/solution design, estimation, shaping, and user story creation
  • Document architecture, configuration, releases, and support handover
  • Collaborate with Version 1 and customer stakeholders throughout the SDLC
  • Communicate technical designs clearly to stakeholders with varying technical abilities
  • Transfer knowledge to team members and customers
  • Mentor and develop junior team members and foster a collaborative environment
Key requirements
  • Strong practice of coding best practices and modern architectural patterns (microservices, message-driven)
  • Non-Functional Requirements awareness and implementation
  • Application/Digital Services Design experience
  • Experience with Code Reviews, CI/CD, SOLID/DRY principles
  • Hands-on development with: Frontend TypeScript, Node, Express JS; Backend Kotlin, Spring Boot, Hibernate
  • Experience in estimation, sizing, integration, and API design
  • Cloud experience
  • Willingness to work with emerging AI technologies
