Overview

In this role you will help build a new R&D capability that delivers data-driven and AI-enabled legal tech products. You will own the user-facing frontend for R&D products, working with AI, data, and design teams to turn workflows into intuitive experiences. You’ll deploy, monitor and continuously improve applications within enterprise security and release patterns, collaborating across discovery, prototyping, engineering and productionisation. This is a hands-on, frontend-led role with a strong emphasis on design, usability and scalable delivery in Azure. You’ll play a key part in shaping reusable components and a design system used across the portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Own the frontend architecture and user experience for R&D products from prototype to production release
  • Build accessible, responsive web apps and internal tools using TypeScript, React and Next.js
  • Translate discovery and requirements into clear user journeys and delivery plans
  • Create intuitive AI-assisted experiences including search, document review, and workflow steps
  • Apply strong visual and interaction-design judgement for hierarchy, loading states, and progressive disclosure
  • Develop reusable frontend components aligned with the R&D design system
  • Build APIs and integrations while leveraging shared AI/data/platform services
  • Integrate data sources, search, Microsoft 365 sources, document repositories and business systems into usable workflows
  • Deploy and operate React/Next.js apps in Azure with established hosting, config, release, monitoring and support patterns
  • Implement secure authentication and data access using Microsoft Entra ID and Azure services
  • Configure Azure services for deployment, hosting, secrets, monitoring and telemetry
  • Write maintainable code with tests; use Docker, Git, and CI/CD throughout delivery
  • Create and maintain release processes for reliable deployment, rollback and troubleshooting
  • Initial Focus: reusable component library/design system, client intelligence/workflows, AI output interfaces, and Azure deployment model
  • What Success Looks Like: intuitive AI-enabled experiences, repeatable deployment path, extendable prototypes, and a robust component library across R&D products
Key requirements
  • ≥3 years in full-stack software engineering in a product or SaaS environment
  • Strong TypeScript and React experience (preferably Next.js)
  • Backend capability with Node.js or Python; APIs and enterprise integrations
  • Experience deploying React/Next.js apps in Azure (App Service or Container Apps) with monitoring and key vaults
  • Experience implementing enterprise authentication with Microsoft Entra ID (SSO, OAuth/OIDC, RBAC)
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled features (LLM, retrieval, search, document processing, workflow automation)
  • Strong product design sense (usability, accessibility, responsive design)
  • Experience with reusable component libraries/design systems and translating requirements into accessible interfaces
  • Secure coding practices, Docker, Git, automated testing and CI/CD
