In this role you will design, develop and enhance modern software applications across frontend and backend, using React with Python and FastAPI. You’ll own solutions from design to delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve quality, reliability and user experience. You’ll work on scalable, secure integrations and modern containerised deployments, contributing ideas within a supportive CGI community. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and enhance modern software applications across frontend and backend
  • Use React, Python and FastAPI to build reliable, scalable solutions
  • Own solutions throughout the development lifecycle from design to delivery
  • Collaborate with engineering, data and infrastructure specialists
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and secure integrations with proper authentication
  • Create robust automated tests using Pytest and VCR
  • Utilise Redis, RabbitMQ and Celery for scalable, resilient applications
  • Containerise and deploy using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate complex requirements into user-focused solutions
  • Automate and refine development/delivery practices using GitLab and Concourse
Key requirements
  • Strong software engineering experience across modern architectures
  • Proven Python backend development and/or React frontend experience
  • Ability to own technical challenges and share expertise
  • Experience with Python 3 and APIs using FastAPI/Uvicorn
  • Experience building accessible, intuitive UIs with React
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP and authentication (JWTs, certificates)
  • Experience with Pytest and API testing (VCR)
  • Familiarity with Redis, RabbitMQ and Celery
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with GitLab and Concourse
