Functional Systems Engineer

In this role you will shape system capability for advanced ground-based defence systems within a growing functional systems team. You will translate customer needs into defined requirements and support design, certification, and delivery across diverse programmes. You will engage stakeholders, manage changes, and communicate complex architectures to varied audiences. • Translate customer requirements into structured system, subsystem, and software requirements
• Support system design activities, including trade studies and technical evaluations
• Contribute to certification and assurance activities, including evidence gathering and technical investigations
• Support programme delivery through stakeholder engagement and coordination
• Drive engineering change management and maintain configuration control
• Communicate complex system architectures to technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integrity and performance
• Contribute to development of systems engineering tools, processes, and capability

• Proven experience in systems engineering in complex or safety-critical environments
• Strong requirements management and derivation
• Familiarity with DOORS, DOORS NG, or Rhapsody
• Ability to conduct system studies and trade-off analysis
• Experience managing engineering change and configuration processes
• Strong communication skills and ability to present technical concepts clearly
• Experience engaging with and managing multiple stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
• Experience in complex product or system development environments (advantageous)
