Functional Test Engineers

You will join a software scrum team to validate features on complex embedded telecom devices, ensuring behaviour and reliability meet customer expectations. You’ll design and execute functional tests, analyze requirements, and pursue edge cases, driving quality throughout the sprint. You’ll contribute to automating high-value checks to speed up iterations and reduce regressions. This on-site role sits within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment focused on rapid learning and innovation.

• Verify new features and changes within the sprint as part of a software scrum team
• Read requirements from Product Definition and Strategy teams; review user stories, acceptance criteria, and specs for testability
• Participate in test planning, execution, defect tracking, and stakeholder reporting
• Design, execute, and trace functional test cases across embedded devices, software components, and APIs
• Develop and run automated test cases for LTE and TETRA products
• Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases and usability issues
• Validate fixes and assess regression risks after developer changes
• Analyse logs, system traces, and debug output to support defect reporting
• Collaborate with developers to investigate issues and reproduce defects
• Provide progress updates, risks, blockers, and readiness during agile ceremonies

• Strong hands-on functional testing experience in Agile/Scrum teams
• Experience testing complex or embedded systems (telecom, networking, radio, IoT, devices, or similar)
• Proficiency designing functional test cases (equivalence, boundary, state-based, risk-based)
• Ownership of the team's Test Strategy (development, maintenance, and governance)
• Effective exploratory testing and edge-case identification
• Ability to analyse logs and debug with developers
• Strong defect reporting with clear steps, evidence, and impact
• Knowledge of test automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Robot Framework, Appium) and scripting (Python/C#)
• Familiar with test management/issue tracking tools (Jira, Jama, Azure DevOps)
• Ability to analyse logs from embedded systems, Linux, or radio firmware
• Knowledge of protocol testing, RF testing, and interfaces (TCP/IP, UDP, Serial, Bluetooth) is a plus
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, or similar VCS
• Demonstrates ownership and proactive quality improvement
