Opportunity:
Physician (MD) - Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology
Job Details:
- Provide locum tenens gastroenterology coverage for a high-demand GI service line in Tyler, TX
- Perform scheduled colonoscopies on a Monday through Friday schedule
- Conduct inpatient GI consults from the previous night following scheduled procedures
- Provide additional GI lab services as needed following scheduled colonoscopies
- 5-7 patient encounters per shift in a 7-bed department
- Active Texas medical license required
- Board certification required (Certified minimum)
- Fellowship training required
- ABLS, ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certifications required
- Credentialing timeframe approximately 30-60 days
- Nearest major airport: DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth)
- Required procedural skills include:
- Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, and injection of varices
- ERCP - both diagnostic and therapeutic
- Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
- Esophageal dilatation/manometry and esophageal manometry interpretation
- Small bowel biopsy
- Lower GI endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy (flexible and rigid)
- Colonoscopy with biopsy and excision of polyp
- Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
- Liver biopsy
- Insertion and management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
