Gastroenterology Physician

We are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for locum coverage in New York. This assignment combines 24-hour call with weekday clinic and procedure coverage, with full-week availability strongly preferred.

Assignment Details

• 24-hour call coverage
• Full-week availability Monday Sunday preferred
• Consecutive days strongly preferred
• Urgent privileges may be available if needed
• Weekday clinic and procedure responsibilities during call coverage
• Adult patient population

Schedule

• 24-hour call
• Office Hours: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
• Procedure Hours: 7:30 AM 3:30 PM
• Typically no more than 2 procedure days per week
• Weekday coverage includes up to 8 hours of patient contact
• Weekend coverage includes 24-hour call
• Callback applies when the physician is called back into the hospital

Patient Volume

• Approximately patients
• Acutely ill adult population with a broad range of GI conditions

Clinical Responsibilities

• Gastroenterology consultations
• Upper and lower endoscopy
• EGD
• Colonoscopy
• PEG tube placement
• Esophageal dilation
• Evaluation and treatment of common GI disorders
• ERCP and EUS are referred out
• No routine rounding unless specifically requested

Support Staff

• 1 provider
• 1 NP
• 1 LPN
• Anesthesia available for procedures
• Epic EMR

Requirements

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Active New York license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the past 2 years
• Upper and lower scope experience
• PEG tube placement and esophageal dilation required
• Epic experience required
• AHA or RQI BLS and ACLS
• No malpractice history accepted
• Residents and Fellows cannot be accepted

Credentialing

• Urgent privileges may be utilized if needed
• No unexplained work history gaps of 30+ days

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified Gastroenterologist with an active New York license, strong general GI procedural skills, and flexibility to provide consecutive blocks of 24-hour coverage. Full-week availability is preferred.
