Locums - Duluth, Minnesota GI Hospitalist Opportunity

Clinical Role RecruitWell is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for a locums GI Hospitalist opportunity in Duluth, Minnesota. This role is focused on Advanced Gastroenterology procedures and hospital-based GI coverage, with little to no clinic responsibility.

Assignment Details

  • Coverage: January 4-25, 2027

  • Includes 2 orientation days

  • Candidates able to cover only part of the requested dates may be considered

  • Additional future vacation coverage expected

  • Additional dates outside vacation coverage may also be available

  • Scheduled 8-hour weekday shifts

  • Primary focus on procedures and hospital service coverage

  • Clinic coverage is typically not required

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

  • Provide Advanced Gastroenterology procedural coverage

  • Manage hospital-based Gastroenterology patients

  • Perform inpatient and outpatient procedures

  • Provide GI Hospitalist coverage

  • Manage assigned and unassigned patients if call is included

  • Collaborate with the hospital care team

Procedures & Skills

  • EGD

  • Colonoscopy

  • ERCP

  • EUS

  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy

  • Additional Advanced GI procedures as clinically indicated

Call Details

  • Final call schedule is to be determined

  • Most likely scenario is backup/second call on weekends

  • Call requirements will be discussed before shifts are confirmed

  • Call may include assigned and unassigned patients

  • 20-minute call response time required when covering call

Support & Technology

  • Hospital-based Gastroenterology service

  • EMR: Epic

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology required

  • Gastroenterology fellowship required

  • Must be proficient in Advanced GI procedures, including ERCP and EUS

  • Must be able to meet a 20-minute call response time if assigned call coverage

Organization & Team

  • GI Hospitalist service

  • Procedural-heavy assignment

  • Primarily inpatient and outpatient procedural coverage rather than clinic

  • Additional future coverage needs anticipated
