Clinical Role

Join an established Gastroenterology practice in Bellingham, Washington, providing inpatient and outpatient GI care. This locums opportunity offers a combination of clinic, endoscopy, and hospital responsibilities, with optional call coverage for physicians interested in a broader scope of practice.

Schedule:

Ambulatory Surgery Center:

• 7:30 am-4:30 pm

Gastroenterology Clinic:

• 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Call Schedule:

• Call is not required
• Preference for physicians willing to provide both clinic and call coverage
• 24-hour hospital call may include evenings and weekends
• Call responsibilities include consultations, rounding, and inpatient/outpatient GI procedures

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology, including clinic, hospital, and ambulatory endoscopy coverage

Patient Volume:

• Clinic: approximately 16 patients per day
• Outpatient endoscopy center: approximately 14-16 patients per day
• Hospital census varies

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Gastroenterology clinic
• Hospital rounding
• Admissions
• Inpatient and outpatient GI procedures
• General Gastroenterology consultations
• Endoscopic procedures

Procedures & Skills

Required experience with:

• Colonoscopy
• EGD
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy
• Dilation
• General Gastroenterology procedures

Support & Technology

Clinical Support:

• Work alongside other Gastroenterologists within the practice

EMR System:

• Epic
• Proficiency with Epic required

Requirements

• MD/DO
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology required
• Active Washington license or IMLC pathway accepted
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• Required certifications must be through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as applicable
