Overview
In this role you will own and evolve a modern, cloud-native data platform in a UK insurance setting. You will lead infrastructure, automation, and platform capabilities, collaborating with Data Engineering and Platform teams to enable scalable data delivery. The role emphasizes self-service tooling, strong engineering best practices, and pragmatic decisions. You’ll shape platform standards, security governance, and observability to support data initiatives across the organization.

- Design, build and maintain GCP infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
- Own and evolve Terraform modules, deployment standards and platform patterns
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support data platform delivery
- Support and optimise core GCP services across the data estate
- Implement monitoring, alerting, logging and observability capabilities
- Define and maintain secure IAM, access control and governance practices
- Develop reusable tools and automation to improve developer experience
- Support integration and migration activities between Azure and GCP where required
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards and runbooks
- Partner with Data Engineers and Platform teams to ensure alignment with engineering standards
- Strong hands-on experience operating and engineering platforms within GCP
- Excellent Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines from the ground up
- Strong DevOps and platform engineering background
- Experience supporting production cloud environments
- Knowledge of networking, security and cloud infrastructure best practices
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging and alerting solutions
- Ability to work autonomously, make informed decisions and take ownership of technical delivery
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
