GCP Principal Engineer

In this Senior Technical Leader role, you guide large Google Cloud and hybrid-cloud transformation programs, translating business goals into practical architectures and roadmaps. You’ll lead end-to-end designs across landing zones, security, networking, data and AI platforms, and ensure secure, resilient, and operable solutions. You work with cross-functional teams to balance value, risk, and operability while shaping reusable patterns and assets for the broader cloud capability. This role offers the chance to influence strategic delivery and coach engineers and architects at scale.

• Own the technical direction for major Google Cloud and hybrid-cloud workstreams, translating priorities into architectures and delivery plans
• Lead end-to-end solution design across landing zones, resource structures, networking, identity, security, data and AI platforms, integration, observability, resilience and disaster recovery
• Make and communicate architecture decisions balancing business value, security, performance, cost, compliance, and operational readiness
• Establish engineering standards for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, policy as code, configuration management and documentation
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through build, migration, testing, release and early-life support while aligning with design
• Lead technical assurance and architecture reviews, identify risks early and drive actions to protect delivery quality
• Facilitate client workshops and explain technical choices to senior stakeholders
• Strengthen Google Cloud capability by creating reusable patterns/assets, contributing to proposals and coaching architects/engineers

• Experience leading large Google Cloud Platform transformation programmes in complex enterprise environments
• Deep Google Cloud architecture and engineering knowledge (landing zones, identity, networking, security controls, logging, monitoring, workload onboarding)
• Practical experience with Terraform, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, automated testing, Google Kubernetes Engine, serverless services, observability
• Experience designing secure and resilient solutions using least privilege, defence in depth, encryption, recovery planning, performance engineering and cost optimisation
• Consulting experience spanning discovery, architecture, delivery leadership, assurance, stakeholder engagement and presales
• Evidence of leading major workstreams, influencing senior stakeholders and coaching multidisciplinary teams
