General Technical Director Trainee

Develop Python scripting and production pipeline skills as a General Technical Director Trainee at Walt Disney Animation Studios Vancouver. Begin in January 2027.

This Talent Development Apprenticeship supports emerging developers through mentorship and real-time production exposure. You will learn filmmaking processes, studio tools, and production workflows. The program introduces Technical Director practices while supporting artistic departments and CG animation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop working knowledge of the production pipeline
• Learn filmmaking processes with an assigned mentor
• Design and write tools supporting artistic department needs
• Support artists across areas of CG animation
• Address feedback and partner with Technical Directors

Requirements:

• Less than five years of animation industry experience
• Recent computer science graduate or equivalent experience
• Experience scripting with Python
• Experience using Linux or Unix
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills
