Global Operational Technology Architect

Overview

In this role you will define and govern Croda’s global OT architecture to enable manufacturing digitalisation while ensuring safety, security and resilience. You will act as the OT design authority across multiple sites and balance global standards with site needs. You will shape the OT reference architecture and roadmaps, partnering with Cyber Security and the business to drive operational excellence. This is a strategic, influence-focused position with global impact and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain Croda's global OT reference architecture, principles, standards and design patterns
  • Set minimum architecture requirements for industrial control systems, plant networks and related infrastructure
  • Own the OT architecture exception process with clear ownership and remediation paths
  • Partner with Cyber Security to embed security by design across manufacturing environments
  • Develop a risk-ranked, multi-year OT architecture and technology roadmap aligned with priorities
  • Identify technical debt and capability gaps, translating into prioritised investment plans
  • Define safe integration patterns between plant systems and enterprise platforms for analytics and approved AI use cases
  • Establish architecture assurance checkpoints across concept to production and changes
  • Support assurance, audit and regulatory reviews while maintaining global documentation and community of practice
Key requirements
  • Significant architecture and engineering experience across OT, industrial automation, process control or manufacturing technology
  • Proven experience governing OT architectures across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Strong knowledge of ICS, PLCs, SCADA/HMI, plant networks, historians and industrial data platforms
  • Practical knowledge of OT cybersecurity including segmentation, secure remote access and monitoring
  • Applied knowledge of ISA-95, ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate risks into operational implications
  • Experience in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, life sciences or regulated process-manufacturing environments (desirable)
