Overview
As a Ground Segment Systems Engineer, you will contribute to mission-critical defense satellite programs for the UK MoD, delivering resilient, high-performance ground solutions. You’ll work within a skilled team across the full lifecycle, from concept to disposal, translating customer needs into integrated technical outcomes. You’ll engage with senior engineers and stakeholders to ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery that supports national security. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge space systems and regional investment in the North East.
Responsibilities- Develop practical solutions to complex engineering challenges within Ground Segment systems
- Work independently on defined tasks under general direction
- Translate customer and system requirements into integrated technical solutions meeting performance, schedule, and cost objectives
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition for hardware and software development
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated system outcomes
- Engage with senior engineers and stakeholders on significant technical matters to support programme goals
- Experience in systems engineering or a related technical discipline
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across requirements, integration, and lifecycle delivery
- Experience on complex, multi-disciplinary engineering programmes
- Structured and analytical approach to solving technical challenges
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with senior technical personnel
- Degree or equivalent qualification/training in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline (desirable)
