We are excited to partner with the Gasparetto Inc. in the recruitment of a Group Controller to join their team in Dartmouth, NS. Reporting to the Chief Operating and Finance Officer, this full‑time, permanent role will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions across all entities within the Group. The Group Controller will lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, financial reporting, and budgeting and forecasting activities, and will support strategic financial initiatives. As a key business partner to operational leadership, you will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the Group.

Key responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions of operating businesses across equipment rental, service and construction industries.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions of real estate, management and other non‑operating entities.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate year‑end reviews, audits and tax compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and internal controls.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to accounting and administrative personnel across the Group of Companies.
  • Support succession planning and cross‑training initiatives.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop KPIs and management dashboards.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives with financial modelling and analysis.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Assist with ERP optimization and reporting enhancements.

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with operating managers across the operating entities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by translating financial information into business insights.

Ideal candidate will possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or working toward the CPA designation) strongly preferred.
  • Five to ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience supervising accounting staff.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills, with a dependable, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to partner with and manage stakeholders across the business.
