Overview
As Hardware Design Authority (Power Electronics) you will be the technical focal point for complex electronic systems, shaping architectures and mentoring engineers. You lead power electronics development from concept to production, ensuring design assurance, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role offers influence over product direction, cross‑functional collaboration, and lifecycle support, within a mission‑driven defence environment.

- Ensure high‑quality schematics, simulations, PCB designs, and component selection/verification
- Direct design reviews, commissioning, debug, fault diagnosis, and lifecycle support
- Design to cost and schedule within approved budgets
- Ensure designs meet industry, customer, and regulatory standards
- Guarantee configuration control and managed design change
- Encourage concise technical documentation and reports
- Act as a technical authority in customer discussions within your area of expertise
- Compliance of products to defence engineering standards (DEF-STAN, MIL-STD)
- Design for manufacture, assembly and test
- Leading a design team and mentoring others to improve deliverables
- Reviewing and producing detailed analysis, simulation, and technical reports
- Systems engineering approach across full product lifecycle
- Significant experience in power electronics design with various topologies
- Prototype to production design experience
- Experience designing custom or semi‑custom magnetic components
- Strong understanding of embedded digital electronics and microprocessors
- Schematic capture, PCB design, and verification experience
- Ability to analyse problems using SPICE and Simulink and communicate outcomes
- Comfortable in a changing environment with competing priorities
