Overview

In this role you will lead SSE's core platforms, shaping a multi-year architecture and modernization roadmap. You will ensure secure, scalable and cost-effective platform estates that support growth, regulatory change, and AI-enabled customer propositions. You will build and guide cross-functional teams, govern risk and drive major transformations in partnership with ECS and SSE priorities. This is an influential, strategic position at the intersection of technology, risk management and business value.

Responsibilities
  • Set strategic direction for Platforms with target architecture and multi-year roadmaps aligned to ECS and SSE priorities
  • Own lifecycle, performance and resilience of critical platforms, driving simplification, automation and continuous service improvement
  • Ensure security, compliance and governance over cyber risk, regulatory obligations, data and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Build and lead multidisciplinary teams; manage talent, workforce planning and strategic suppliers for cost optimisation
  • Act as trusted advisor to senior stakeholders with reporting, governance and sponsorship for major investments and transformation programmes
Key requirements
  • Extensive leadership experience across large-scale technology, engineering, platform, DevOps and supplier functions in complex organisations
  • Proven expertise in managing business-critical platforms, operational resilience, service continuity, technology risk and cyber security improvements
  • Delivery of major transformation, regulatory change and supplier-led programmes using Agile, DevOps and modern engineering practices
  • Commercial experience managing multi-million-pound budgets, investment portfolios, suppliers, business cases and value realisation
  • Excellent senior stakeholder and regulatory engagement skills with ability to influence strategy and manage risks and dependencies
