Head of Data

In this role you build Nothing’s data function from the ground up, turning complex, multi‑system data into clean, usable foundations. You’ll partner with leadership across product, supply chain, and finance to surface high‑impact data use cases and implement scalable pipelines. You’ll own the end‑to‑end architecture, choosing lightweight tooling and ensuring data quality to support real decisions today and AI initiatives tomorrow. This is a hands‑on, autonomous role with visible business impact in a fast‑moving, design‑driven company.

• Map top-priority data use cases by engaging cross‑functional leaders
• Design and build pipelines connecting ERP, HRIS, Android/app telemetry, and trackers into a cohesive data layer
• Own end‑to‑end architecture; write code and manage tooling calls
• Identify overlaps and sequence builds pragmatically; avoid hacks or overengineering
• Ensure a clean, normalized data foundation for current decisions and future AI workflows
• Evaluate and select modern, lightweight tooling to accelerate delivery
• Define what constitutes 'good data' and create standards, quality controls, and documentation

• Deep hands‑on engineering capability; build pipelines yourself
• Track record in complex environments (hybrid hardware/software, scaling fintechs, or similar)
• Fluency with agentic and LLM workflows and data layer needs for AI
• Commercial instincts; frame work in terms of decisions and revenue impact
• Strong judgment on when to architect robust solutions vs. scrappy pipelines
• Experience connecting disparate systems (ERP, HRIS, mobile telemetry, trackers) to reliable outputs
• Comfort as a senior IC who thrives in deep technical work without a team beneath
