Overview

In this role you own end-to-end data programme delivery within Arch's large transformation, aligning data estate initiatives with business strategy. You lead cross-functional collaboration with governance, business units, and vendors to ensure on-time, high-quality outcomes. You will shape the data transformation roadmap, manage risks, and ensure technical standards across the SDLC and production support. This is a hands-on leadership role at scale, driving data-driven improvements for insurance-grade data solutions. You will work with stakeholders to translate strategy into tangible change while supporting Arch’s mission to enable possibility.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee delivery of strategic data programmes within scope, budget, and quality targets
  • Collaborate with Data Governance, business units, and stakeholders to drive the programme roadmap
  • Monitor progress, identify and mitigate risks and issues
  • Prepare updates and reports for senior management to ensure alignment with objectives
  • Ensure compliance with policies and best practices across the project lifecycle
  • Manage resourcing from cross-functional teams and external vendors, including supplier relationships
  • Align deliveries with the strategic vision and roadmap
  • Ensure alignment between business strategies, transformation activities, and technology directions
  • Develop and enhance systems/technologies, monitor SDLC and production support
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through data management
  • Prepare business cases and financial analyses for new technologies/systems
  • Oversee business analysis, development, and QA for assigned systems
  • Collaborate to prepare strategic plans and tie system requests to budgets
  • Help develop IT standards, policies, and processes for integration across the company
  • Review technology needs against trends and emerging data technologies, and participate in vendor evaluations
  • Prepare/manage department budget including P&L, expenditures, and contract negotiations
  • Lead and develop the team through recruitment, training, performance management, and recognition
Key requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of modern databases (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Broad knowledge of software development techniques and best practices; proficiency in programming languages
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Proactive problem-solving and issue resolution
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with Agile development and traditional methodologies
  • Strategic decision making and long-term planning
  • Strong business acumen with insurance/reinsurance systems and data
  • Knowledge of Python, Power BI
  • Proven track record delivering data programmes in the insurance sector
  • Bachelor-level education and 10–15 years of related experience including PM and business analysis
  • Significant management experience; financial services/insurance background beneficial
