Head of Data Platform Engineering

In this role you lead the design, build, and ongoing care of Hastings’ Snowflake and Azure data platform. You will steer platform engineering, quality, and governance teams, delivering projects and business-as-usual work in alignment with CIO ways of working. You’ll translate Hastings’ strategy into daily execution to drive growth and outcomes beyond technology. You’ll influence cross-functional decisions and shape the data-driven future of the business.

• Oversee production ETL/ELT pipelines and data orchestration frameworks and ensure platform security, compliance, and access controls
• Implement and govern data quality, lineage, observability, and metadata management to sustain scalable data infrastructure
• Build and lead a Centre of Excellence for data platform engineering to support data teams in using Snowflake effectively
• Define and enforce coding standards aligned with industry best practices to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Collaborate with CIO FinOps and data teams to keep platform run costs within budget and optimize efficiency

• Significant experience leading data engineering in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with traditional DB and cloud data platform ETL technologies
• Proficiency with Big Data integration technologies
• Strong CI/CD, data platform engineering, testing, and release practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholder groups
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for large data sets
