Overview

As Head of Software Engineering, you steer a global practice of 300+ developers and set strategic direction. You blend consulting leadership with hands-on engineering judgment, focusing on AI-enhanced delivery and reusable accelerators. You partner with senior client stakeholders to shape architecture, delivery, and governance, translating shifts in tech into practical investments. You will lead, mentor, and align multiple teams toward reliable, high-quality software outcomes that drive business value.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor engineering leaders and developers to create a culture of ownership and reliable delivery
  • Oversee complex software programmes balancing quality, pace, cost and risk
  • Shape market-facing engineering propositions including AI-enhanced delivery and standards
  • Guide architecture, code quality, delivery practices and governance
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and resolve delivery issues
  • Track industry and technology shifts and translate them into practical investments
Key requirements
  • 15+ years of experience delivering complex software projects, preferably in consulting or client-facing environments
  • Strong consulting experience with ability to influence senior client stakeholders and communicate under pressure
  • Solid software engineering background with hands-on production coding
  • Proven leadership of large engineering teams and development of technical leaders
  • Good understanding of modern software engineering, architecture, cloud, agile delivery and quality practices
  • Practical experience or strong interest in AI-enhanced software delivery and AI-enabled productivity improvements
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; advanced degree welcome
