Head of Engineering

In this role you will own the platform architecture and establish a UK engineering function for an AI-enabled financial services platform. You will align the UK team with an overseas engineering group to deliver a secure, multi-tenant system handling sensitive data at scale. You’ll define architecture, coding standards, and security posture while expanding a cross-functional team across ML, frontend/backend, cloud, and security. The opportunity combines enterprise-grade platform work with cutting-edge AI/ML delivery in a regulated domain. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how AI is reliably used by investment professionals across the client base.

• Own architecture for a multi-tenant enterprise platform
• Build out and lead the UK engineering function across ML, frontend/backend, cloud, and security
• Define engineering standards, CI/CD, automated testing, static analysis, code review and release discipline
• Ensure security posture and regulatory compliance readiness; manage enterprise client security reviews
• Collaborate with overseas engineering team to scale and align practices
• Design service boundaries focused on data ownership and separation between core systems and AI/ML components
• Oversee AI/ML engineering work including agentic workflows, retrieval quality (RAG) and graph-backed retrieval

• 5+ years of leading engineering teams, across multiple locations
• Experience owning architecture for a multi-tenant enterprise platform
• Experience building production LLM or agentic AI systems
• Track record of raising engineering standards and driving adoption
• Background in financial services or another regulated industry (plus)
• Comfort with JVM and Python stacks
• Understanding of AWS at scale, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
