Legal Asset Servicing

Legal Asset Servicing | London (hybrid) or remote, UK and Europe | Full-time

Legal Asset Servicing is the operational infrastructure for legal assets. Litigation funders, credit funds and the law firms they back use LAS to manage litigation assets, case budgets and invoice approval, portfolio and capital call administration, law firm lending and investor-grade reporting. The asset class has outgrown spreadsheets and generic fund administration tools, and there is no incumbent.

The platform is live, the product is broad, and delivery is running at its fastest pace yet. We are focused on scaling, refining, and advancing the current platform. We are now hiring an engineering leader to own the future development of the platform.

What you will own

  • The architecture and the codebase. You will be the final technical authority on how the platform continues to be designed, reviewed and shipped, and the person who knows it best.
  • Financial correctness. Our customers report to investors from what LAS calculates. You will set the standard for how financials are modelled, tracked, tested and reconciled.
  • Security and enterprise readiness. Access across funders, law firms and investors, data residency, our external API and MCP access, and the answers institutional customers need in security diligence.
  • Engineering standards and delivery. You will set the bar for code review, testing and releases, and direct a multi-disciplinary delivery team through clear specifications, honest estimates and specific deliverables.
  • Hands‑on work. This is not a management-only role. Expect to write production code, review most of what ships, and step in anywhere in the stack.

What we are looking for

  • Ten or more years building production software, including time as the first or most senior engineer in a company.
  • Hands‑on experience building AI‑powered features for production systems. You have experience with LLM integrations, RAG architectures, and vector databases, and you understand the practical challenges of reliability, latency, and cost in real-world deployment.
  • Deep, current TypeScript across the stack. We use Next.js, React, oRPC, Drizzle and Postgres on Neon, better-auth, Vercel, Vitest and Playwright. Equivalent modern TypeScript experience is fine; a first TypeScript role is not.
  • A track record in financial systems: lending, payments, fund administration, ledgers or similar. You think about decimal precision, FX, rounding, audit trails and reconciliation without being prompted.
  • Pragmatic architectural judgement. You have led refactors to completion, and you know when to stop one.
  • Experience directing an external or outsourced engineering team, and a clear view of what makes that relationship productive.
  • Clear written and spoken communication with non-engineers, including founders, customers and their security teams.
  • Team focused mindset with the drive to step‑up and pitch in where needed with a small team.

Knowledge of litigation finance is welcome but not required. We will teach you the domain.

Why this role

You will be the technical owner of a product with real customers in a market without established infrastructure, reporting directly to the CEO, with the scope of building the in‑house engineering function as the company grows.

How we hire

A short introductory call, a technical conversation, a paid work sample on our real codebase under NDA, and a final day in London. We aim to decide within four weeks of first contact.

Compensation: €90,000 to €120,000 base plus equity and/or performance incentives.
