Head of Enterprise Digital Engineering

As Head of Enterprise Digital Engineering, you will shape and scale AstraZeneca’s digital platform strategy across cloud, data, AI, APIs, and developer experience to accelerate medicine development and delivery. You’ll lead platforms as products, aligning cross-functional teams to measurable outcomes and driving adoption of reusable capabilities. This is a mission-critical role that combines engineering leadership with product thinking to enable faster, safer, and more reliable platform services at scale. You will partner with science, clinical, and commercial leaders to embed intelligent, responsible AI into everyday product delivery, delivering tangible business impact.

• Define and execute a coherent enterprise platform strategy and portfolio aligned to business priorities
• Lead product-oriented platform development with clear customers, roadmaps, service expectations and success metrics
• Build and evolve platform capabilities, emphasizing API-first design, automation, self-service and strong developer experience
• Scale a global forward deployment workforce across cloud, data, APIs, and user experience to accelerate adoption of shared capabilities
• Oversee AI for technology strategy and deployment, including reusable services for generative AI, ML and analytics, with governance and lifecycle controls
• Ensure platform resilience, security, cost-effectiveness and operational performance through lifecycle management and incident learning
• Drive measurable enterprise adoption and value through customer-centric metrics, cost management, and evidence-based investments
• Foster multidisciplinary platform teams and communities of practice across product, engineering, architecture, security and business technology

• Significant senior leadership experience across digital platforms, platform engineering, cloud services or enterprise technology products
• Proven track record of building, scaling or operating shared platforms in a large, complex organization
• Experience establishing and leading a product-led platform operating model
• Ability to influence C-suite partners and translate platform investment into business outcomes
• Experience in regulated, security-conscious environments and managing platform risk
• Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field
• Experience enabling product and engineering teams via reusable platforms and self-service capabilities
• Experience driving platform reliability, security, lifecycle, and operational performance
