Head of Solution Architecture

As Head of Solutions Architecture, you will lead the design and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions that address complex business challenges and drive excellent customer outcomes. You’ll head a high-performing Solutions Architecture team, own the Technical Design Authority, and provide strategic tech leadership across the organisation. The role collaborates closely with Enterprise Architecture to align designs with roadmaps, governance, and standards. You will influence senior stakeholders and balance technical, commercial, risk, and sustainability considerations. This is a pivotal role to shape scalable, customer-focused solutions in a purpose-led environment.

• Lead the Solution Architecture function to deliver high-quality, business-focused designs
• Own governance, standards, and QA processes underpinning delivery
• Act as the Technical Design Authority providing strategic design oversight
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Solution Architects
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to align with technology roadmaps and standards
• Facilitate architecture governance forums balancing compliance, usability, cost, risk, and sustainability
• Manage service performance, SLAs, and continuous improvement for architectural support
• Identify, assess, and manage technology risks and contribute to innovation and supplier engagement

• Demonstrable experience leading a Solution Architecture function within a complex technology environment
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience coaching technical teams
• Expertise in solution architecture, governance, and design authority processes
• Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to drive customer-focused outcomes while balancing technical, commercial, risk, and operations considerations
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, integration/middleware, data and analytics, or information security
• Experience establishing and maintaining architecture standards and performance measures
