In this role you lead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Asta’s Underwriting Control Framework to ensure managed syndicates operate within a robust, compliant structure. You own key UCF documentation, oversee controls and LOAs, and support Lloyd’s governance expectations while promoting a transparent underwriting environment. You will partner with governance forums and cross-functional teams to address issues and strengthen controls. This is a leadership role shaping underwriting governance and risk management at scale.

- Oversee and maintain the Underwriting Control Framework (UCF) for managed syndicates
- Review underwriting governance documentation including Syndicate Protocols and Underwriting Guidelines and other UCF documents
- Manage and oversee LOA issuance
- Provide updates to Head of Underwriting Oversight on syndicate control matters and key actions
- Escalate UCF issues into Asta governance forums (AWG, SB, etc.)
- Oversee underwriting compliance activities including exception reporting
- Analyze and enhance control-related management information (MI)
- Ensure adherence to Lloyd’s Principle 1 and internal underwriting governance processes
- Lead team development, people management, and training in the Underwriting Controls function
- Strong knowledge of the Lloyd's market and syndicate operations
- Experience in underwriting governance, oversight, or operations
- Deep understanding of UCFs and governance structures
- Experience reviewing and maintaining Syndicate Protocols, Underwriting Guidelines, and LOAs
- Knowledge of underwriting authorities and controls
- Solid grasp of Lloyd's Principle 1 and underwriting governance expectations
- Experience with compliance activities, controls testing, and exception management
- Ability to identify control weaknesses, governance gaps, and operational risks; capable of leading escalation processes
