In this role, you will develop high-level control strategies for active and semi-active vehicle systems, bridging dynamics and controls teams to deliver ride attributes aligned with McLaren DNA. You’ll model, simulate, and prototype control solutions for chassis systems, contributing to production-ready software. The position operates within a collaborative Product Development environment focused on innovative vehicle dynamics. You will shape performance through model-based controls and rapid prototyping, impacting the vehicle’s dynamics and user experience.

- Design and develop HLCS for active/semi-active systems affecting vehicle dynamics (e.g., torque management, active suspension, active aero, steering)
- Serve as liaison between Dynamics attribute team and Controls development team
- Define ride attributes at vehicle level leveraging vehicle state estimation and ride dynamics knowledge
- Conduct concept work in simulation to evaluate control strategies against performance indexes
- Co-design rapid prototyping software with the Controls Department to meet dynamics requirements and production suitability
- Create Matlab/Simulink high-level controllers
- Implement model-based control via Vi-Car Real Time
- Run functional simulations and sensitivity analyses to specify software requirements
- From concept to production development of active and semi-active systems
- Define requirements at vehicle and system levels with a product development focus
- Mechatronics / Automotive Engineering degree with strong vehicle dynamics knowledge
- Experience in Dynamics Controls at OEM or tier-1 supplier
- Matlab and Simulink – Expert Level
- Vehicle dynamics simulation environment (VI Car Real Time) – Expert User
- Vehicle dynamics fundamentals – High Level
- Control system design and tuning – Good Level
- Chassis HW systems (tyres, steering, suspensions) – Good Level
- Data logging systems – Basic Level
- SW calibration tools – Basic Level
- CAN network architecture – Basic Level
- Model-based controls development – Very good plus
- Vehicle state estimation development – Very good plus
