Overview

As HR Systems and Data Manager, you lead the People systems, data, MI, and automation agenda in partnership with People, Technology, and BI teams. You shape scalable, controlled data and system solutions to enable reliable insight and informed decision‑making. You’ll build capability within the People Systems & Data function and drive governance, data quality, and value from automation and AI. This role offers impact across the business as a trusted cross‑functional partner in a large retail environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coach the People Systems & Data team to build capability and resilience
  • Develop and maintain the People Systems & Data plan aligned to business priorities
  • Partner with People Operations, Payroll, and Technology to ensure joined‑up systems, data flows, and MI
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, priorities, and controls
  • Own system and data acceptance, testing readiness, and live operation controls
  • Govern data stewardship, definitions, quality standards, and ownership across the organisation
  • Improve data quality at source with People Services and Payroll
  • Collaborate with BI and Data Governance teams to shape reporting and insights
  • Build data literacy and practical insight across People for decision making
  • Identify opportunities where automation and AI can enable improvement
  • Maintain visibility of system/data risks and escalate significant issues

Key requirements
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Excellent partnership and influencing skills across People, Technology, Data, Governance, and supplier teams
  • Ability to translate complex issues into practical requirements and decisions
  • Clear communication of systems, data, MI, and controls to varied audiences
  • Strong numeracy and data accuracy focus with ability to drive data literacy
  • Curiosity about emerging technology, automation, and AI with governance awareness
  • Ability to balance People Operations needs with broader priorities
  • Strong knowledge of SAP HR and connected People systems
  • Experience shaping system requirements, testing, and operational readiness
