IAM (Java) Developer - Hybrid In London Or Glasgow - 12 Month Initial Contract - Inside IR35

Role Overview

The position combines hands-on Java development with operational support of PingDS (ForgeRock DS) and broader IAM infrastructure, working across development, deployment, migration, and production support activities. The role sits within a modern DevOps environment and requires familiarity with automation, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted development tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, troubleshoot, debug, and enhance Java-based applications and APIs, including custom integrations and extensions for enterprise IAM and Directory Services platforms.
• Support IAM and Directory Services platforms - primarily PingDS (ForgeRock DS) - across migration, upgrade, configuration, deployment, and production support activities.
• Administer and manage Linux/RHEL environments, including filesystem management, log analysis, networking fundamentals, and performance troubleshooting.
• Automate deployment, migration, validation, and operational activities using Linux Shell Scripting (Bash) and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Maintain and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Git and Jenkins, applying secure coding practices, code reviews, and testing frameworks across the development life cycle.

• Java development & IAM platforms - Hands-on Java development experience including API and integration development, with strong preference for experience developing PingDS plugins, extensions, or Java-based directory services components.
• PingDS/ForgeRock DS expertise - Proven experience supporting PingDS or ForgeRock DS platforms across migration, upgrade, configuration, and production support, alongside familiarity with Ping Identity, ForgeRock IDM, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Linux/RHEL administration - Working knowledge of Linux/RHEL systems including filesystem, permissions, services, networking, log analysis, and Bash Scripting for automation of operational activities.
• Directory services & IAM protocols - Solid understanding of LDAP/LDAPS, SCIM, directory replication, schema management, TLS/certificate management, REST APIs, and core IAM security fundamentals.
• DevOps & automation tooling - Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), Maven/Gradle, Ansible, Terraform, and AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, with appropriate validation and secure-use practices.

Rate: £475 per day Inside IR35

Location: Hybrid in London or Glasgow

Duration: 12 Month Initial Contract
