Overview

As the IBM Netcool / Observability Technical Lead you will own and evolve a large-scale NOI monitoring estate within a 24/7 banking environment. You’ll act as the SME for Netcool, shaping how events are detected, correlated, and actioned across EMEA while modernising observability. The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership to drive resilience, reduce alert noise, and automate incident response. You’ll collaborate across infrastructure and cloud teams to onboard services and define monitoring standards.

Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain the Netcool estate (Omnibus, ObjectServers, Probes, Gateways, WebGUI, Impact) ensuring high availability and lifecycle management
  • Design and implement correlation, deduplication, enrichment, and automation rules to reduce alert noise
  • Onboard new infrastructure, applications and cloud services into monitoring with cross-functional collaboration
  • Lead technical investigations, resolve incidents and drive root-cause analysis during major events
  • Build integrations and automations with ServiceNow, ITSM, reporting, and tooling via APIs and event forwarding
  • Define monitoring policies, best practices, and contribute to the observability roadmap and team mentorship
Key requirements
  • Expert-level Netcool NOI experience in large-scale environments (Omnibus, Impact, WebGUI)
  • Strong Netcool architecture knowledge (ObjectServers, Probes, Gateways, high-availability)
  • Experience with platform upgrades, patching, migrations in 24x7 contexts
  • Strong SQL and ObjectServer administration with Exposure to Impact development
  • Scripting and development in Impact Policy Language, Probe rules, JavaScript, PowerShell, and shell scripting
  • Solid Linux/UNIX administration and deep understanding of event processing and alert lifecycle
  • Experience integrating monitoring with ServiceNow and automation platforms
  • Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis within ITIL-aligned processes
