IBMz Network Engineer

In this role you will join a team of technical professionals supporting a large-scale z/OS systemen platform, focusing on mainframe network integrity and data/IP security. You will work on configuring, maintaining, and securing host subsystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable connectivity and robust security. The role includes 24x7 support responsibilities and opportunities to influence mainframe networking and security practices. This position offers exposure to IBM mainframe networks, modern security protocols, and enterprise-scale IT operations in a global company known for innovation.

• Configure and maintain integrity and data/IP security of Mainframe host subsystems and products
• Support IBM mainframe networks and transmissions infrastructure within a multi-functional team
• Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a rotation
• Perform TCPIP Port Reserves (additions, deletions, changes)
• Perform VTAM updates (additions, deletions, changes)
• Manage OSA Adapters in a complex mainframe environment
• Perform VTAM PU/LU updates including Enterprise Extenders
• Implement AT-TLS rules (certificate management)
• Configure and manage IPSEC policies (permit/deny, VPN tunnels)
• Trace, debug and perform error analysis for network issues
• Communicate with technical, applications and operations staff to ensure connectivity and security (including after hours)

• Experience with file transmission products (Connect:Direct or FTP) or equivalent usage experience
• Knowledge of z/OS and z/OS utilities
• Understanding of z/OS networking services, structure, and related software/protocols
• Understanding of network security disciplines (IPSec, TLS/SSL, certificates) and their relation to file transmission
• Experience with problem management from diagnosis to resolution
• Understanding of Change Management process
• Ability to customize/manage secure SNA and TCP/IP networks under z/OS
• Knowledge of mainframe network management tools (NetMaster) and multi-session products (TUBES, Supersession)
• Experience with mainframe printing products
• General z/OS systems programming experience
• Knowledge of System z hardware including OSA-Express network cards
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
• Familiarity with Cisco Network Solutions
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, good organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability
• Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
• Business awareness and understanding of IT business requirements

• Experience as a z/OS Systems Specialist in the IT industry
