Overview

In this role you will support a large-scale z/OS mainframe network, ensuring secure and reliable host communications. You join a multi-functional team delivering 24x7 coverage and work across UK and Europe on complex networking and security tasks. You will shape mainframe transmission infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement security policies in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
  • Work in a multi-functional team supporting IBM mainframe networks and transmission products
  • Provide 24x7 support rota coverage
  • Manage TCPIP Port Reserves (additions, deletions, changes) and VTAM updates
  • Administer OSA Adapters in a complex mainframe environment
  • Perform VTAM PU/LU updates including Enterprise Extenders
  • Implement AT-TLS rules and manage IPSEC policies (VPN, tunnels)
  • Trace, debug and perform error analysis
  • Coordinate with technical, applications and operations staff to ensure connectivity and security
Key requirements
  • Experience with file transmission products such as Connect:Direct and FTP (as administrator or user)
  • Knowledge of z/OS and z/OS utilities
  • Understanding of z/OS networking services and related software/protocols
  • Understanding of network security disciplines (IPSec, TLS/SSL, certificates)
  • Experience with problem management and change management processes
  • Ability to customize and manage secure SNA and TCP/IP networks under z/OS
  • Knowledge of mainframe network management tools (NetMaster) and multi-session products (TUBES, Supersession)
  • Experience with mainframe printing products
  • General z/OS systems programming experience
  • Knowledge of System z hardware including OSA-Express network cards
  • Familiarity with Cisco network solutions
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines; strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to stay current with new technologies
  • Experience as a z/OS Systems Specialist
