ICT Technical Specialist - Networking Technologies

In this senior, hands-on role you will own and shape the trust’s wired, wireless, mobile, voice and data networks, aligning strategies with NHS standards. You act as the networking SME, translating requirements into secure, future-proof solutions and guiding IT assurance activities. You’ll influence governance and architecture while supporting clinical and corporate teams to deliver high-quality care. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive resilient, secure networking across the organization.

• Act as the lead networking SME across the trust; provide authoritative advice and drive key network projects.
• Contribute to IT Assurance framework aligned with NHS governance, ITIL, PRINCE2, and TOGAF.
• Manage lifecycle of all non-datacentre networking assets and services (wired, wireless, mobile, voice, data).
• Design architectures and communication topologies; draft procurement specifications and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Oversee day-to-day network performance, security, user administration, configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
• Plan periodic technology refreshes and manage warranties, contracts, OS, and software licensing compliance.
• Maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience plans for networking services.
• Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation across system management processes.

• Three years of proven experience in a specialist networking technician role.
• Ability to interpret and advise on national NHS guidance and policy on ICT systems and standards.
• Post-graduate level education or equivalent senior experience.
