Information Technology Project Manager

Aubay is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a high-profile Motor Finance regulatory programme for a leading financial services organisation. This role will take ownership of a complex, fast-paced project focused on regulatory change within the motor finance sector, working closely with business stakeholders, third-party suppliers and programme leadership to ensure successful delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving programme governance, managing a budget of approximately £5 million, overseeing delivery plans and resources, and navigating evolving business requirements in a collaborative and solutions-focused manner. This position requires a confident project leader who can challenge stakeholders constructively, maintain strong controls, provide executive-level reporting and deliver results in an environment of ambiguity and pressure.

Key Role Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a strategic Motor Finance regulatory project from current state through to successful delivery.
• Rapidly assess existing project documentation, plans, risks and dependencies to establish a clear delivery roadmap.
• Manage delivery across business, technology and third-party supplier workstreams.
• Ensure strong governance processes are established and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce and maintain project plans, RAID logs, resource plans and project reporting.
• Validate requirements, manage scope changes and challenge additional demands where appropriate.
• Build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders whilst maintaining delivery discipline and control.
• Prepare executive-level summaries and updates for programme leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Monitor project budget, forecast expenditure and ensure effective financial management of third-party spend.
• Provide solution-oriented recommendations to address delivery challenges and risks.
• Lead weekly project status reporting and governance forums.
• Proactively identify risks, issues and dependencies and implement mitigating actions.
• Coordinate internal teams and external partners to ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
• Drive accountability, ownership and continuous progress across all project workstreams.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, legal and operational requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

• PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum or equivalent Project Management certification.
• 7+ years' experience delivering complex IT and business change projects within Financial Services.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering regulatory change programmes.
• Experience managing large-scale projects in fast-paced and evolving business environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders constructively.
• Demonstrable experience managing third-party suppliers and delivery partners.
• Strong governance, risk, issue and dependency management experience.
• Experience managing project budgets and resources, including projects exceeding £5 million.
• Ability to create and maintain delivery plans, status reporting, RAID logs and project documentation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including preparation of executive-level updates.
• Strong understanding of project controls and delivery governance.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and drive outcomes.
• Proven experience navigating ambiguity whilst maintaining delivery momentum.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Previous Motor Finance industry experience.
• Experience delivering commission-related or consumer finance regulatory programmes.
• Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and governance frameworks.
• Experience operating within highly regulated lending environments.
• Exposure to transformation programmes involving multiple business and technology workstreams.
