Our client is deeply rooted in Canada's automotive industry specializing in automotive sales and leasing. They are looking for an Intermediate Accountant - 3 months to join them on contract. The role is full time in Woodbridge or Vaughan in office 5 days a week and you will be working closely with the Director of Finance and Controller.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations accurately and within established timelines, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Perform detailed bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and investigate variances or unusual transactions.
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are properly supported and documented.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Perform variance analysis on key accounts and clearly communicate findings and potential root causes to Finance leadership.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with dealership and operational teams to obtain supporting documentation and clarify transactions.
- Proactively communicate with the Director of Finance and Controller regarding outstanding items, discrepancies, and potential issues.
- Work on-site in Thornhill or Woodbridge and contribute effectively within a collaborative Finance and Operations environment.
Must Have:
- Proven experience as an Intermediate Accountant or in a similar accounting role, ideally within a busy, multi-entity environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with balance sheet, bank, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline .
- Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
- Familiarity with Reynolds and Reynolds or a comparable dealership management system is a nice-to-have
