Nephrologist Job Requirements

• Valid physician licensure and eligibility to practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of clinical experience in internal medicine and nephrology
• Board certification in the required specialty
• Completed nephrology fellowship training
• Current ABLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in the management of hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and peritoneal dialysis
• Ability to manage post-renal transplant patients and perform or oversee renal and dialysis-related procedures

Internal Medicine Physician Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic renal conditions
• Manage patients receiving hemodialysis, CRRT, and peritoneal dialysis
• Provide post-renal transplant management and ongoing nephrology care
• Perform renal biopsies when clinically indicated and within the scope of practice
• Place and manage hemodialysis catheters and other dialysis access devices
• Perform catheter placement procedures using appropriate clinical technique
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Complete timely clinical documentation, consultations, and patient follow-up
