IT Application / Business Analyst

Contract: 6 months

We are recruiting an experienced IT Applications Analyst / Business Analyst to support a major Windows 11 migration and application remediation programme within a large local government environment.

This role requires someone with a strong Business Analyst background who has previously worked across the full application remediation lifecycle as part of a Windows migration or desktop transformation programme.

You will work with business users, application owners, technical teams and a third-party packaging partner to take applications from discovery and assessment through remediation, testing and successful UAT/sign-off.

This is not purely an application packaging role. We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between the business and technical teams, understand application requirements and dependencies, coordinate remediation activity and drive applications through to successful deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Own applications through the end-to-end remediation lifecycle for the Windows 11 migration
• Engage with business users and application owners to understand requirements, dependencies, usage and criticality
• Analyse the existing application estate and identify remediation requirements
• Coordinate application remediation and packaging activity with internal technical teams and third-party suppliers
• Track applications from discovery and assessment through packaging, testing, UAT, sign-off and deployment
• Plan and coordinate UAT with business users, ensuring issues are captured, managed and resolved
• Support application deployment through Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
• Maintain application registers, remediation trackers, risks, issues and dependencies
• Use SNOW Software Asset Management data to assess application usage and licence compliance
• Identify opportunities to rationalise, consolidate or retire applications
• Reconcile application, user and device information across Intune, SNOW, HR and asset data
• Produce clear reporting on application readiness, UAT progress, risks and migration status

You will need a strong Business Analyst / Applications Analyst background, with demonstrable experience of:

• Application remediation programmes
• Taking applications through the lifecycle from discovery/assessment to UAT and sign-off
• Windows 10/11 migration or desktop transformation programmes
• Business requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement
• Application dependency and impact analysis
• Coordinating application testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Working between business users, application owners and technical/packaging teams
• Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager
• Application packaging concepts including MSI, MSIX and Win32
• Software Asset Management / SNOW
• Application rationalisation and licence compliance
• Maintaining RAID logs, remediation trackers and programme reporting
• Advanced Excel and data reconciliation

Recent local government or wider public sector experience is essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have acted as the bridge between business and technology teams during a Windows migration, taking ownership of applications and ensuring they successfully progress through remediation, testing and UAT into production.
