Overview

In this role you lead the Infrastructure and Client Computing team to deliver secure, reliable core digital services. You will drive performance, resilience, and continuous improvement across on-premise and cloud platforms, with a focus on Microsoft 365, cyber security, and modern digital technologies including safe AI adoption. You’ll manage suppliers, govern cyber controls, and ensure audit readiness and incident response in a NHS-aligned environment. This is a hands-on leadership role shaping IT strategy and operations in a multi-site healthcare setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Infrastructure and Client Computing team to improve service performance and resilience
  • Manage supplier relationships and third-party contracts for value and reliability
  • Oversee cyber security controls supporting Cyber Essentials Plus, DSPT and NHS standards
  • Ensure infrastructure, cloud and end-user computing services support audit readiness, cyber resilience, business continuity and incident response
  • Maintain infrastructure platforms with vendor support and plan upgrades and lifecycle management
  • Ensure patching, endpoint protection and cyber security standards are followed
  • Act as senior escalation point for infrastructure and client computing issues and mentor staff
  • Provide specialist expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune, and cloud services
Key requirements
  • At least five years' experience managing IT infrastructure and client computing in a large multi-site organisation, or IT degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience designing, managing and troubleshooting enterprise networks (LAN/WAN, wireless, routing, switching, firewalls, security)
  • Significant experience with Microsoft-based infrastructure and end-user computing (Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot)
  • Experience implementing cyber security controls (Cyber Essentials Plus or equivalent), secure configuration, patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection and access control
  • Experience leading technical staff and managing operational IT services, including major incidents, service performance, suppliers and continuous improvement
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Organisational, negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Microsoft365 and Copilot experience
  • AI tools experience
  • IT infrastructure (networking, data centre, telephony)
