Overview

In this role you will oversee and continuously improve the organization’s IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, networks, and end-user computing. You will lead technical teams and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure availability, security, and performance of critical business systems. You’ll drive resilience through robust backup, disaster recovery, and security practices in a complex financial services environment. This hybrid, London-based position offers hands-on leadership and a chance to shape IT strategy and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and optimise Windows and Linux server environments
  • Manage VMware vSphere/vCenter (v8+) infrastructure
  • Oversee backup and disaster recovery with Veeam and related tools
  • Lead endpoint security and encryption solutions (SEP/SEE)
  • Support monitoring and security tools (Splunk, Tenable)
  • Manage patching and patch workflows (ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus)
  • Support Microsoft 365 services and cloud technologies
  • Provide end-user computing support (AD, GPOs, imaging, OS deployment)
  • Administer enterprise applications including financial systems and trading tools (e.g., Bloomberg FXT, Refinitiv Eikon, Murex)
  • Configure and maintain networking (Cisco, FortiGate) and security governance
  • Develop IT policies, documentation, and automation opportunities
  • Support VIP stakeholders and coordinate with vendors/service providers
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and IT governance
  • Lead IT operations and project delivery within agreed SLAs
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience
  • Strong Windows and/or Linux system administration
  • VMware vSphere expertise
  • Experience with backup, DR, and monitoring tools
  • Proficiency in network security, firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint protection
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Experience mentoring IT staff
  • Relevant certifications (ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or cloud) or equivalent practical experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in financial services, trading, or treasury environments
  • Strong communication with non-technical audiences
  • Leadership and mentoring ability
  • Problem-solving mindset under pressure
  • Windows Server/Linux administration
