IT Security Analyst Halifax

Administer enterprise firewalls and secure connectivity as a temporary, full-time IT Security Analyst with Halifax Regional Municipality in Halifax.

Reporting to the Manager, Cybersecurity, this analyst supports municipal initiatives through security technology administration and maintenance. The work includes firewall changes, identity-related controls, network segmentation, and secure configurations across on-premises and cloud environments. Collaboration with networking, infrastructure, cloud, and project teams supports reliable technology services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer firewalls, VPNs, proxies, and remote access technologies
• Implement approved firewall rules and security control modifications
• Configure network security controls across on-premises and cloud environments
• Support secure technology deployments with project teams
• Perform upgrades, troubleshooting, testing, and lifecycle management

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
• Minimum five years in information technology security
• Professional designation such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, or Security+
• Strong enterprise firewall and IPSec VPN experience
• Experience with Fortinet products and management platforms
