IT Security Consultant

In this role you will oversee the UK entity's computer security and guide security improvements for customers. You will define and manage security postures, train staff, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with standards while supporting business continuity. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to raise security hygiene and cultivate a security-focused culture. • Assess and identify potential security risks to IT systems
• Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies
• Monitor security metrics and address emerging risks
• Upgrade or design security systems tailored to needs
• Conduct regular security audits and simulate breaches
• Manage disaster recovery plans and business continuity
• Secure IT infrastructure and maintain compliance with security standards
• Prepare technical documentation for technical and non-technical audiences
• Train and supervise IT security staff to foster security awareness
• Support customers in defining and improving their security posture
• Guide and oversee IPSA accreditation
• Provide oversight for security posture within the UK business

• 5+ years' proven IT security management experience
• In-depth knowledge of IT security principles, practices, and technologies
• Familiarity with UK security policy and standards
• Experience with ISO27001, CE+, Secure by Design, JSP 440 and JSP 604
• Knowledge of security products and evaluating their performance
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and database security
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience delivering IPSA accreditation
• Ability to guide security function activity
• Experience applying security policy to build a positive security culture
• Experience delivering security improvements in customer organisations (UK MOD/government experience valued)
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM
• Experience with cloud security, Microsoft 365 Security, and compliance policies
