IT Support Engineer

In this role you will provide expert IT support to academics, students, staff and visitors within the NDPH IT team. You will help maintain a large, data-intensive computing landscape and assist users across Windows, Linux, Mac and mobile devices. You will manage incidents via the helpdesk, perform hardware/software troubleshooting, and contribute to asset management and small IT projects. You’ll work collaboratively in a research-focused environment, delivering reliable IT services that support teaching and research impact. - Provide expert technical support to academics, students, staff and visitors on IT matters
- Manage incidents and service requests via the helpdesk (email, phone, in person)
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software
- Maintain asset management including ordering and stock control
- Assist with small-scale IT projects
- Convey technical information clearly to non-specialist users
- Work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Adapt quickly to new technologies
- Experience in first-line PC support in a customer-focused IT environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Broad understanding of IT systems with ability to learn quickly
- Asset management experience and stock control
- Experience managing small IT projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organised, methodical, detail-oriented and able to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Proactive, collaborative approach
- IT qualification (e.g., BTEC National Diploma or equivalent) desirable
- Experience supporting Apple Mac computers and mobile devices; university IT environment advantageous
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and processes desirable
